ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 18TH JUNE 2026.
As believers, we are called to walk in the Spirit and this enables us to bear fruit such as love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (vv. 5:22-23). These qualities are essential, as they demonstrate our commitment to following Christ.
In contrast, living in the flesh leads to a different set of characteristics, including adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, and revelries (Gal. 5:19-21). The consequences of such behaviour are severe, as those who practise them will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Beloved, many people today are easily weighed down by messages that constantly warn them of the dangers of living under the influence of the sinful flesh. One reason for this is that such individuals have not crucified their flesh and are still strangers to walking by the Spirit. Exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit is essential for any Christian who must make heaven at last.
You must check how well you manifest the characters of God in your daily life by showing to everyone around you that Christ lives in you. The fruits of the Spirit and not the gifts of the Spirit, will show the beauty of Christ’s image in your activities today and always.
PRAYER POINT: Father, give me the grace to always manifest the fruits of the Spirit in all I do. Amen.
