Read: Colossians 3:5-11 (NKJV)
- Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
- Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
- in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
- But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
- Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,
- and have put on the new [man] who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,
- where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave [nor] free, but Christ [is] all and in all.
ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 14TH OCTOBER 2025.
Yesterday, we considered what it means to die with Christ and be raised with Him, which is the born-again life. In our text today, the Lord shows to us very clearly the way and manner of life lived by those who are not “dead and raised” with Christ, but whose hearts are set on this world and its treasures. The characteristics of an earthly-minded person include sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed, anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language, lies, etc. Apostle Paul describes these same negative worldly qualities when he wrote on the “acts of the flesh” to the Christians at Galatia (Galatians 5:19-21). This is a very serious matter as the wrath of God will come on those who live by such ungodly practices.
Child of God, do not allow yourself to become a candidate of God’s wrath. Rather, rid yourself of such ungodly habits by embracing the love of God in Christ Jesus. Faith in Christ and submission to His Lordship over your life can save you and lift you above the wrath of God that is coming upon the children of disobedience.
PRAYER: Lord, I disengage from every hidden sin in my life. Take them away from me and nail them permanently to Your cross, and give me a brand-new life, Amen!
