SEEDS OF DESTINY MESSAGE FOR TODAY 10TH APRIL 2026

Yesterday, we examined the power of friendships, and it was established that your friends or company can affect the direction of your life. It was also confirmed that your friendship or company affects your choices in life, as seen in 1 Corinthians 15:33.

Today, we shall take it a step further by X-raying who a friend is.

Now, who is a friend?

  1. A friend is someone who feels at home in your company, and in whose company you also feel at home. In Genesis 38:12, Judah was seen going somewhere in the company of his friend Hirah the Adullamite. Hirah was his friend, and he was at home in his company.
Some people are not fully at home in your company. They may be acquaintances, but they can’t be called friends.
  2. A friend goes with you on important journeys of life. Genesis 38:12 shows how Hirah was on a journey with Judah. That is why we say anyone who is not going in your direction is not qualified for your association.
  3. A friend is one who can be entrusted with the confidential assignments of your life.
There are things you need someone trustworthy to do. For example, you may tell someone to help you get your landed property documents (C of O) from somewhere, and you know that he or she is not the kind of person who will sell the C of O or tell you that your document is missing.

In Genesis 38:20, it was this same Hirah that Judah sent to redeem his pledge. This was the man Judah trusted enough. Your friend is one who can run errands that no one else can run for you. One of the most trustworthy friends you can ever have is your life partner – your wife or husband.

When Jesus was about to give up the ghost in John 19:26-27, He handed over His mother to that disciple whom He loved, saying: “Woman, behold your son, son, behold your mother.”

  1. A friend is one with whom you can speak closely, comfortably, intimately and harmoniously. That was what God did with Moses as reported in Exodus 33:11: And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend…
  2. A friend is one who is truly excited about your progress and success in life.
John 3:29 corroborates this: He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy, therefore, is fulfilled.

The person who is getting married is the groom, but the best man is standing by him, celebrating and rejoicing at the success and progress of his friend who has found a wife. That is what friendship is all about.

Christian Living Resources

Beloved, other people may antagonize your success, but your real friend is excited about your success. He or she is excited that you are succeeding and going forward in life.

REMEMBER THIS: Anyone who is not going in your direction is not qualified for your association.

ASSIGNMENT(S)

  1. Re-evaluate the people you call friends because they can influence the overall outcome of your life.
  2. Be a true friend first before desiring one.

PRAYER: Father, connect me with the right company so my life can go in the right direction, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
