Open Heavens For Teens 17th October 2026 – Rivalry Trap The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Saturday 17th October 2026 Is “Rivalry Trap”

MEMORISE: (2 Corinthians 10:12)

For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves are not wise.

READ: Galatians 6:4-5 (KJV)

Rivalry is a state in which two people compete for the same thing. Many teenagers compare themselves to their siblings, friends, or peers, and this leads to feelings of jealousy or inadequacy. As a mother, I see the uniqueness in all my children because God gave them to me for different reasons, so I do not make the mistake of comparing them. Today, I also want you to avoid the foolishness of comparing yourself with other people; rather, focus on your studies, work, or ministry.

Rivalry breeds resentment and division. For instance, Joseph’s brothers treated him as a rival because they were jealous of his dreams. They resented him so much and eventually sold him into slavery (Genesis 37:5-28). Don’t ever be like Joseph’s older brothers. Avoid jealousy at all costs, because it often leads to rivalry. When someone around you is making progress, rejoice with him or her (Romans 12:15); your turn will come someday. My dear child, I pray that God will open your eyes to see your unique worth in His plan, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT:
Avoid the pitfalls of rivalry

.REFLECTION:
Are you truly beautiful on the inside?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 1:24-56, Deuteronomy 33-34

HYMNAL:
Hymn 19 – Be glad in the Lord and rejoice
