MFM Daily Devotional Message Monday 24th August 2026.
God can decide to visit a man at any time, any how He wants it. Therefore, it is not in man to choose how he/she wants to be visited by God. Sometimes, we try to box God to a corner on how we want it done. Naaman went to God’s Prophet to be healed; he also wanted to choose his method of healing. He already had a pre-conceived mindset of how the healing process should go. Probably because he had seen a particular method work for others, he thought that would always be the method.
In his case, Elisha did not even bother to come out to see who he was. He just sent an instruction to Naaman to go and wash in the Jordan river and that’s all. But to Naaman, that was too simple. In the real sense, Naaman was expecting something costlier and more rigorous like fire prayers, days of fasting, etc. This is the case with many people; they don’t believe they can be visited by simply obeying simple instructions or partaking in simple activities like praise and worship, listening to other people’s testimonies, dancing, giving, clapping, etc.
They always believe that miracles can only come through rigorous activities like fasting, going to mountains to pray, etc. If it will not make them sweat, to them, it cannot bring a miracle. Some don’t even appear in church until it is time for only fire prayers, ignoring other aspects of the church service and forgetting that God can even choose to pay a visit during opening prayers. Beloved, it is true that for certain battles in life, a bit of rigour must be engaged.
For such, fasting, deep prayers and even waiting upon the Lord may be required. But for others, it could just be a “wash and be clean” kind ofinstruction that is needed. “And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?”
