MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday 22nd November 2026.
Saul admitted that he had sinned when Samuel confronted him. Then, he backed it up with a silly excuse. He said he had disobeyed the Lord and Samuel because he feared and obeyed the people. Often, there is a thin line between loyalty and people-pleasing. Saul had crossed the line without knowing.When Samuel refused to return with him, he pleaded with him to honour him before
the elders and before Israel. He didn’t want news to spread about his rejection.
This brings to light the state of Saul’s heart. He was more concerned about keeping up with appearances than with being right with God. The opinions of men mattered more to him than the opinion of God and His servant. Even though he had just received a devastating pronouncement of the kingdom being tom from him, he didn’t humble himself to ask for mercy. He rather asked to be honoured in the sight of the people.
It would seem he only lived for the people’s approval. This is quite unfortunate and it is a sign of low self esteem. Beloved, ask yourself the following questions: Do I value the opinions of people over what I know to be the truth of God’s word? Will I rather do what others want and ask God for mercy later? If public opinion does not support the will of God, will I still do the will of God? If you have answered in the affirmative, ask God for help.
Ask Him to help you realise that He is enough for you and His opinion is the most important. Be so filled with the word of God that you are bold enough to always do the right thing. When you realise that your allegiance is to God first, you will find it easier to do away with every people-pleasing attitude and do the will of God from the heart. Let all your actions be borne out of love for God, not from the desire for men’s applause. Don’t turn into a “yes-man” simply because you are afraid of displeasing others.

- O Lord, my Father, give me a heart that seeks to please You always, in the name of Jesus.
- I bind and cast out of my life every spirit of people-pleasing, in the name of Jesus.
- O Lord, set my heart on heavenly things rather than earthly things, in the name of Jesus.

- I declare that my allegiance is first of all to Christ; I will not be derailed, in the name of Jesus.
- Powers assigned to shift my gaze from the cross, die, in the name of Jesus.
- I refuse to choose men over my relationship with God, in the name of Jesus.
- O Lord, keep me steadfast in You till the very end, in the name of Jesus.
