MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday 22nd May 2025.

Another wonderful and positive lesson to learn from Job is that he had self-control over his eyes and passion. He learned on time how to keep his sexual urge in utmost control. He even went as far as making a covenant with his eyes not to ever think, let alone look upon, a maid. He was a man of like passion as we are. He also faced the same temptations we are facing.

However, he chose not to do the blame game like some present-day believers who would blame social media, peer pressure, etc., for their reason for falling into illicit sex. Job took responsibility for his walk with God. He made a covenant with his eyes not to allow a strange woman to fill his thoughts. He knew that, coupled with help from above, he also had to watch what he pondered upon, what he watched, read, and the places he went. He made a covenant!

The Bible says in Hebrews 12:4,
“Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.”

Some of us have not really been intentional like Job in our fight against sin and immorality. That is why we still excuse our sins and blame situations. If we are really intentional like Joseph, we will daily live a victorious life. A holy life is possible if we are deliberate like these saints of God.

Beloved, have you made a covenant with that part of your body that is always causing you to sin against God? If your answer is no, then you need to be truthful and call that body part to order in the place of prayer and discipline.

There will always be temptations. Strange ladies will come to lure you. Strange men will come. The tempter may go for a season, but be sure he is coming back through other strategies. It may be through social media, obscene adverts, erotic books, etc. Tempters will come, but you have the choice to either welcome them and fall into sin or resist them and live victoriously.

The tempter came to Joseph, but he fled for his dear life. Some would have seen it as an opportunity for free sex; after all, no one was watching. He could have fallen for it and lost his destiny for life. There is no free sex anywhere. Every attempt to lure a man or woman into any extra-marital sex is an attempt to bring such destiny into the mud and turn him/her into a piece of bread.

This was Amnon after having his lustful way with Tamar. He reduced her life to nothing, and he too died a painful death. I pray that the tempter will not get us, in Jesus’ name.
