MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday 16th June 2026.

We continue our discourse on divine chastisement. I want you to note that God does not punish His children out of wickedness. He does not just sit in heaven, looking for whom to punish. The usual aim of chastisement is to restore obedience, just as we noted yesterday. Naturally, there are consequences of sins. For example, if you commit the sin of fomication or adultery, you are in danger of consequences like unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, heartbreak, and so on.

I remember the story of a sister who came to me complaining that her friends were laughing at her because of the size of her breasts. They told her to have sex in order to increase the size of her breasts. I advised her to ignore them but she would not. She eventually took their advice. She became pregnant and tried to carry out an abortion. The abortion was poorly done and she lost her fallopian tubes in the process.

This is an example of divine chastisement. God is a jealous God; He will not allow His children to thrive in sin. Now, for this sister, can God restore her? Absolutely! If she repents and returns to God, He absolutely can restore her. In fact, you should be worried if you commit sin without feeling guilty and it seems there are no consequences. If you find yourself telling lies, stealing, falsifying figures, or getting involved in any form of wrongdoing without remorse, you are in a sorry situation indeed.

It means the Lord has abandoned you because He will always chastise those whom He loves. If you are in this situation where your conscience is dead and you commit sin with impunity, you should run to the Lord and ask Him to show you mercy. It doesn’t matter your position in church, or who you are. It is a terrible thing to be abandoned by heaven. Repent genuinely and cry to the Lord to restore you into His favour. May the Lord keep you in His favour, in Jesus’ name.
