TREM DEVOTIONAL FOR 30TH MAY 2025

In business, there is what is described as the sleeping partner. A sleeping partner is somebody who does not really do any work but receives benefits. That is who we are in Christ. God made Abraham a sleeping partner. God, knowing that man was prone to failure, could not rely on Abraham to keep a covenant with Him, so He did something never done before – He cut a covenant with Himself concerning Abraham. This is why you have symbolic forms of the Father and Christ, both of them involved in the covenant. In other words, God and God cut a covenant concerning Abraham, and you, by spiritual birth. That is why you cannot fail.

Beloved, God made a covenant with Himself on your behalf, and you are still reiterating the lie of the devil that you cannot be healed. Who lied to you? At Calvary, Christ ratified the covenant. He is now the mediator of a better covenant, established on better promises (Hebrews 8:6). When a covenant or will is made, the person who wrote the will must die first, following which the will naturally goes into effect (Hebrews 9:16-17). Jesus did not only make His will, He also died. But He did not remain dead. He rose from the dead and is now executing His will by Himself. This is why I know and I’m confident that His promises to you are already fulfilled.

As sleeping partners, our part is to thank Him. ‘Lord, I thank you for my healing because it is already done. I thank you for my financial miracle. Lord, I thank you because I will embrace my babies.’ Christ has established the promise. The covenant is complete! So why do you doubt it?

It is like a man who goes to a wrestling or boxing tournament and his face is battered. There is blood all over him and he is limping on one leg but coming home with a cheque. When he gets home, the wife opens the door, gives him a kiss and a warm embrace, and receives the cheque. The wife is the sleeping partner. She did not have to go to war, but is enjoying the spoils of war.

Jesus has paid the price! Why are you struggling to pay a price that has already been paid? If you could pay for it, then you do not need Jesus. You are a sleeping partner.
