TREM DEVOTIONAL FOR 19TH AUGUST 2025
Beloved, through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus Christ satisfied the full demands of justice. God so loved you that He gave His only Son to justify you completely. It would be against divine justice, like double jeopardy, for Christ to suffer for sin and for you to suffer for the same sin again. Christ came because you could never pay for your sins; He paid in full so that you could stand justified.
Forgiveness of sin is not a reward for confessing Christ, it is part of the finished work of salvation. Everything we receive from God is based on what Jesus has already done, not what we do. Under the law, sins had to be confessed because that was the requirement of the old covenant. People confessed sins to John the Baptist, and Daniel also confessed sins under the old system. But under the covenant of grace, forgiveness is given freely, not because of confession, but because of Christ’s sacrifice.
Ephesians 1:7 declares: “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” Forgiveness is your inheritance. It comes not by your effort, but according to the riches of His grace. It is already yours!
If even one sin had been left unpaid, Jesus would still be in the grave, held captive. But the fact that He rose means every sin was taken away. He came to completely remove sin, not partially. That is why you must reject sin-consciousness. It is wrong thinking for a believer to wake up every morning and live sin-focused. You no longer belong there.
Beloved, you are saved by grace, and the same grace keeps you. Even when you stumble, His grace holds you steady and restores you. Live with this confidence: Christ has paid in full, you are forgiven, and you are free!
