SEEDS OF DESTINY MESSAGE FOR TODAY 28TH AUGUST 2026

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that pride goes before a fall. The price of pride is always costly. Proverbs 18:12 says, Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility. Pride is a sign of impending destruction, while humility is a sign of coming honour.

Absalom was a clear example of a man whose pride opened the door to destruction. His life of disloyalty and rebellion ultimately led to the destruction of his life and destiny.

It was said that Absalom was very handsome. Once a year, they polled his hair because he had very heavy and beautiful hair. Then he became arrogant, and he felt that he should be king instead of his father.

The rebellious operation of Absalom can be seen in 2 Samuel 15:1-6. Whenever people came looking for King David for judgment, Absalom would call them aside and begin to speak against the king. He would tell them that their matters were good and right, but that there was no one appointed by the king to hear them. Hear what he said in 2Samuel 15:3-4, And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.

Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!

In this manner, Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. That was classical disloyalty – the stealing of loyalty and the diversion of the hearts of people.

Absalom’s pride led to disloyalty, and his disloyalty eventually produced rebellion and destruction. Absalom finally engaged in a battle against his own father, which eventually led to the tragic end of his life and destiny.

As he rode upon a mule, his hair caught hold of the branches of a great oak tree, and he was left hanging between heaven and earth, while the mule ran away (2 Samuel 18:9). The hair that was his pride became the instrument of his destruction.

The natural thing to do would have been for people to rescue him and bring him down, but he was left to hang there. Pride and rebellion destroyed him. Joab eventually thrust his darts through his heart, and Absalom died shamefully (2 Samuel 18:14-15).

The Bible also declares that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft in 1 Samuel 15:23. So rebellion and witchcraft are the same. This means that rebellion attracts dangerous consequences. Many lives and destinies have been cut short on the platform of pride, disloyalty, arrogance, and rebellion.

Beloved, refuse pride, reject disloyalty, and avoid rebellion. The pathway to honour is humility, but the pathway to destruction is pride.

REMEMBER THIS: The pathway to honour is humility, but the pathway to destruction is pride.
