For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God,….
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Son of God became the Son of man, so that sons of men can become sons of God.
Today is a remarkable day in the history of Christianity. It is a day set aside worldwide to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The birth of Christ remains the most celebrated event in human history. It is observed and honoured by both Christians and non-Christians.

Now, celebrating the birthday of a mortal man is already a significant occasion, how much more then is the celebration of the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords!
Today, there are non-Christian nations that do even more elaborate Christmas celebrations than some traditional Christian nations. You see entire communities transformed in appearance and activities.
The challenge, however, is that many do not grasp the true reason behind the celebration of Christmas. They don’t understand why there is so much joy. In fact, the birth of the sinless Son of God is marked by some of the most terrible sins or evils – drunkenness, alcoholism, immorality and all manner of vices. All this happens because many people don’t truly know what they are celebrating.
So, what is the birth of Christ all about?
It is the celebration of the heaven invading the earth.
It is the celebration of immortality invading mortality. That is, the One who cannot die chose to take the place of the one who could die.
It is the celebration of invisibility entering the realm of visibility. The God we once could not see became the God we can see through Jesus Christ.
It is the celebration of Divinity entering humanity; the celebration of God becoming man. Christmas is the celebration of the season where the Son of God became the Son of man.
The Son of God became the Son of man, so that sons of men can become sons of God. Jesus Christ came from the celestial realm into the terrestrial realm. He is the junction between the celestial and the terrestrial junction. He is the Divino-humanity junction. That is the junction where Divinity meets humanity. In Jesus, you see God, and in Him, you also see man.
Beloved, it is very exciting to note that Jesus is a perfect junction of all possibilities. That is, a perfect junction where what was only possible with God now becomes possible with man.

What is the implication of His birth?
It was the birth of God’s gift.
When Christ was born, it was not merely the birth of a person, but the birth of a gift, the gift of God to mankind. As stated in John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son… This was the giving of God’s only begotten Son as a Divine gift from God to humanity.
This is the true essence of the celebration of Christmas. Beloved, as you celebrate this Christmas with the correct mindset, may you access the fullness of all that is yours in Christ, in Jesus’ Name.
