The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Sunday 16th November 2025 Is “A Little Sleep”

“As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.”
Many teenagers today have developed the habit of oversleeping. When you study the lives of great men and women, you will find that one thing they all share in common is discipline—especially in the way they use their time.
They do not spend unnecessary hours sleeping; instead, they invest their time in productive thinking, learning, and doing things that add value.
Research shows that the human body needs about eight hours of sleep to function properly. Anything beyond that becomes excessive and wasteful. A teenager who sleeps more than eight hours daily is already losing precious time.
Let’s break it down:
Sleeping more than eight hours daily = over 56 hours weekly
That is 2,920 hours yearly spent mostly being unproductive
Add 5 hours daily on social media, movies, or games
That becomes 35 hours weekly, and 1,825 hours yearly
When you combine excessive sleep and leisure, such a teenager wastes 4,745+ hours a year—hours that could have been used to learn skills, study, grow spiritually, develop abilities, or build their future.
Dear child, do not sleep away your destiny.
Be disciplined. Do things at the right time. Work when you should work, study when you should study, and rest moderately. This is how to fulfil your God-given purpose.
