MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday 6th November 2025.
Sleep is sweet and desirable, especially after daily labour. Scripture says God gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2), referring to peaceful rest. However, sleeping in the wrong place brings danger instead of peace. Imagine a soldier sleeping on duty!
We are soldiers of Christ; we are called to stay alert and watchful. Sleeping on duty spiritually is a sign of indiscipline and danger. A believer meant to be praying, watching, evangelizing, preaching, and serving the Master cannot afford to be spiritually asleep. This is the unguarded hour for many Christians — a moment of carelessness that invites attack.
Sleeping spiritually can mean lukewarmness, negligence, compromise, or carelessness. When the believer sleeps, the enemy finds an open gate. While men slept, the enemy sowed tares — evil seeds that bring hardship, pain, affliction, and misfortune. Once tares are sown in a life, uprooting them requires greater effort than planting good seeds. It can corrupt other areas of a person’s life. Why should a Christian be careless?
We are commanded to awake in Ephesians 5:14–16. It is a call to rise from spiritual slumber and embrace divine light. His light gives life (John 1:4). When His light enters, darkness fades, wisdom increases (Psalm 119:130), and the believer becomes alert to opportunities and strategies to defeat the enemy.
Remember — the Lord is coming soon. The devil never goes on vacation. Stand up, be alert, and fight the good fight of faith. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Awake, soldier of Christ — hear the battle cry and march onward!
