If you feel that you are not where you should be spiritually, you are not alone. I think most people can easily become discouraged with themselves when they compare their behavior with that of Jesus or even other more mature believers.
When we study the Bible, or perhaps read a good book about Christian character, God’s goal is to urge us forward, not to make us feel condemned because we have not arrived yet. God is working in you! He will continue doing so until Jesus returns. There is no need to compare yourself with anyone else.

Lord, thank You for Your patient work in me. I trust that You’re not finished yet, and I refuse to compare myself to others—only to follow Your lead. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
