The phrase “fear not” is mentioned three hundred and sixty-five times in the whole Bible, once for every day of the year. How, then, does our verse for today tell us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom? So, which is it, a spiritual reality revealed in the scriptures or an egregious contradiction? Stay with me. God is simply displaying the types of fear you can exude. There is carnal fear, which can be detrimental to you. However, based on the context of the scripture above, the fear described is Godly reverence!
The biblical definition of reverence is intense, worshipful awe and respect for God and things pertaining to godliness. As a Christian, you are propelled to do the work of the Kingdom based on the level of reverence you have for His Word. Today, choose to elevate your life beyond the state of ordinary living and have unwavering respect for God and His calling upon your life; it’s the beginning of wisdom!
PROPHETIC DECLARATION: I don’t fear what the enemy can do to me; instead, I have reverence for God! When I respect who He is in my life, He lifts me up to greater heights! Amen.
