DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
In agrarian societies, the harvest season is a time of abundant celebration. Since ancient times, communities have marked the end of the farming season with festivals featuring feasting, singing, dancing, and competitions.
Unfortunately, some cultures misdirect the honour due to God by celebrating idols instead of the Creator who gives all increase.
In today’s passage, God commanded Israel to observe the Feast of Tabernacles (or Feast of Ingathering). This feast required them to dwell in temporary shelters (booths) for seven days.
This practice served as a reminder of their dependence on God during their wilderness journey. Regardless of status—young or old, rich or poor—all Israelites were to stay in booths, demonstrating humility and equality before God.
The purpose of the feast was clear:
To remember God’s deliverance from Egypt.
To acknowledge Him as the source of every blessing.
To rejoice in the harvest and the works of their hands.
This was not a time for pride or self-glory. It reminded them that everything they had came from God.
For believers today, this feast symbolises something deeper: the celebration of our deliverance from sin. Beyond physical harvest, we are called to rejoice in the harvest of souls. Nothing brings greater joy in heaven or on earth than leading people into God’s kingdom.
Just as Israel gathered faithfully for their annual feast, believers today should not neglect fellowship gatherings — weekly services, conferences, and special programmes such as the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK). These gatherings help us remember God’s goodness and equip us to bring in the spiritual harvest.
