The Topic of Deeper Life Daily Manna Devotional for 5th April 2026 Is “From Fear to Faith”
Text: Mark 16:1-8 (KJV)
KEY VERSE: (Mark 16:5,6).
“And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.”

DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
As Vice President, George Bush represented the US at the funeral of former Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev. Bush was deeply moved by a silent protest carried out by Brezhnev’s widow. She stood motionless by the coffin until seconds before it was closed.
Then, just as the soldiers touched the lid, Brezhnev’s wife performed an act of great courage and hope, a gesture that must surely rank as one of the most profound acts of civil disobedience ever committed: She reached down and made the sign of the cross on her husband’s chest.
There in the citadel of secular, atheistic power, the wife of the man who had run it all hoped that her husband was wrong. She hoped that there was another life, and that that life was best represented by Jesus who died on the cross, and that the same Jesus might yet have mercy on her husband.
Our passage narrates the powerful story of the resurrection from the perspective of the women – Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome – who came to anoint Jesus’ body. They were grieving, confused, and unsure of how they would roll the large stone away from the tomb’s entrance.
But when they arrived, the stone was already rolled back, God had gone ahead of them. Inside, they found not Jesus’ body, but an angel who declared to them messages of: PEACE (“Be not affrighted”); POWER (“He is risen!”); POTENTIAL (“He is not here!”); PREACHING (“go your way, tell his disciples and Peter”); and PROMISE (“Ye shall see Him”).
Jesus’ resurrection is the heart of the Christian faith. It implies that death has been defeated and new life is available to all who believe. On this strength, the angel instructed them to go and tell the disciples which they eventually obeyed and shared the good news.
This passage challenges us to live with faith over fear, to trust that God is already at work ahead of us, and to be willing to share the message of the risen Christ. Like the women at the tomb, we’re also called to respond to the resurrection with both awe and action, and walk in faith even when we don’t understand what God is doing. He may have removed whatever “stone” we are worried about today.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The tomb is empty: Go and tell the world, Jesus is alive!
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
