DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY

It is not every time that people set out to work on a project that they get it finished as planned. In fact, quite a number of projects never get to leave the drawing board. They are aborted as soon as they are conceived. Some do not get finished as initially planned. They get modified along the way, either by having it scaled down or broadened.

Quite so many get abandoned mid-way as a result of a number of factors. One of such is the Marble Hill Nuclear Power Station in Hanover, Indiana, USA. It was nearly 80% complete at an estimated cost of $7.4 billion when it was abandoned in 1984 due to construction issues and safety concerns. Only a very few projects get finished as planned.

One of such was the completion of Solomon’s Temple in our text today. The passage describes the completion of the temple and the solemn transfer of the Ark of the Covenant into its new and permanent home. This epoch making event is very symbolic as it highlights God’s faithfulness in fulfilling His promises to His people.

The event here is very significant and instructive to us today. It encourages us to trust God’s timing and His ability to complete His works in our lives. We would recall that King David first conceived the idea of building a temple of God; but God felt the time was not right then, aside the fact that his hands had shed much blood in the prosecution of wars.

We should not get discouraged if we have an initial delay or set back in our well-conceived plan and project. If we get a “no” at first, it may only mean the time is not ripe yet. If we keep trusting God, He will certainly make all things beautiful in His time. If God gives you a vision or a promise, He will surely bring it to fruition at the appropriate time. Simply keep moving on in faith!

There is the place for proper planning and preparation, if we ever hope to get our projects finished as planned. It is not enough to have beautiful and laudable ideas and plans either for our lives, family, business or ministry. It is very essential that we make proper preparation and adequate provisions to carry our plans through to the end. We have to be very deliberate, intentional, realistic and have a fixed purpose while also trusting in the Lord to finish well whatever we are embarking on.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Finishing well is a function of planning well with faith in God.
