DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY

At the end of the 19th century, French scientist Pierre Berthelot predicted the emergence of weapons of mass destruction in the next century, stating, “We have only begun to list the alphabet of destruction.” Two French writers who visited him then contemplated the idea, with one suggesting that God would intervene before mankind’s destructive capabilities reached their peak and say to them, “Gentlemen, it’s closing time.” As current events unfold, it becomes increasingly apparent that the clock is ticking toward the end of this age, when the Creator will ultimately bring mankind’s activities to an end.

In today’s passage, Angel Gabriel was instructed to interpret Daniel’s vision of the ram and goat he had seen earlier. Gabriel’s explanation delved into events beyond Daniel’s time, revealing things that would occur at the end of time. The angel explained the immediate meaning of the vision concerning the succession of empires in Daniel’s day and the near future, but its ultimate fulfilment points to the distant future.

The Scriptures have clearly shown that this present age will end with a flurry of divine events — the rapture, the great tribulation, and the rise of the Antichrist, described as a king of fierce countenance and skilled in dark intrigues. The Antichrist will unleash bitter oppression and terrible suffering upon the world, particularly the Jews. He will strongly oppose Christ but will ultimately be destroyed by divine power.

God’s seeming delay in bringing these end-time events to pass is a reflection of His mercy, giving more time for the gospel to reach the nations and for souls to be saved. Despite persecution and hardship, believers must hold firmly to their faith, knowing that the end is near. Daniel’s vision reminds us that God remains in control of human history and that everything is leading toward His predetermined conclusion. When that time comes, God’s judgment will fall upon the Antichrist and his followers, but His faithful saints will be saved.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The world and all its content will pass away; if you must live for Christ, it must be now.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Isaiah 51–55
