Finally, Solomon was now the king. The message was relayed to Adonijah by Jonathan, the son of Abiathar, the Priest. Adonijah realised immediately that the game was up. He became afraid and rushed to the place of worship and grabbed the horns of the altar.
Guilty conscience! He quickly sent a message to King Solomon to assure him he would not be executed. Solomon gave him that assurance and he was permitted to go home. When we do things we are not supposed to do or take wrong actions, our conscience must trouble us.
To avoid that guilty conscience, ask God for the grace to live a life of holiness and righteousness, study the word of God, pray always and depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The peace of God which passes all understanding will keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7).
PRAYER POINT: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24).
