ANGLICAN COMMUNION DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY.
The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 24th December 2024 Is “We Are Joint Heirs With Christ”
Read: Galatians 4: 1-7(NKJV)
1 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all,
2 but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.
3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.
4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 24TH DECEMBER 2024.
Bondage, under the law, is like slavery. Before Christ came and died for our sins, we were under the bondage of the law, thinking the law could save. The law teaches us the need for salvation; it reveals to us the nature of God, His will for humanity and guidelines for a righteous living.
When we were under the dispensation of the law, failure in one law, was failure in all and as a result, we became enslaved, trying to keep the law. But when Christ came, we who were once slaves, now became God’s children. We are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Gal. 3: 29). He came to purchase us out of the slave market of sin; we are then elevated to the place of sonship by adoption. What a beautiful progression! Now we have an intimate relationship with God through Christ. We can therefore, boldly come to Him.
As adopted children of God, we share with Jesus all rights to God’s unlimited resources. We can lay claim to all He has provided and promised for us. We must therefore have confidence that when we pray according to His will, He will hear us. We must never doubt Him or give up hope. His grace has given us salvation and unrestricted access. Like the Galatians, being joint heirs with Christ, we too can now shout, Abba Father!
PRAYER: LORD, thank you for making me a joint heir with your dear Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
