TODAY’S INSIGHT – 13TH JUNE 2025.
Ours is an arduous, long, and sometimes tedious journey through Cesspool Cosmos. And, observe, it is a walk, not a sprint. The good news is: We are not alone on this demanding pilgrimage . . . which means that some folks we are traveling with make awfully good models to follow. So, follow them!
Here’s a tip on how to make your life count for Christ. Follow godly examples.
I like that while Paul invited believers to follow him, he also acknowledged that others were worth being followed as well. This is a good place to be reminded that no one person on earth is to be our single source of instruction or our only object of admiration.
What is it we look for when searching for examples to follow? I like the things Paul listed for Timothy:
But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—but the Lord rescued me from all of it. Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. (2 Timothy 3:10–12)
Let me quickly point out a few practical suggestions for determining your role models:
Choose your mentors slowly.
Study their private lives carefully.
Spend time with them regularly.
Never forget that those we follow are to be diligent followers of Christ Himself. He remains the Master Mentor.
