The Topic of MFM (Mountain Top Life) Daily Devotional for 3rd June 2025 Is ”DON’T DESPISE GOD’S WORD”.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR – 2 Samuel 20:14-21:22, Acts 11:1-26, Psalm 121:1-8, Proverbs 16:18

FIRE SCRIPTUREMatthew 7:24-27

24. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

MEMORY VERSEProverbs 13:13

Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday 3rd June 2025.

The importance of exhibiting the right attitude towards God’s word cannot be overemphasized. Jonah despised God’s word (Jonah 1:3), King Saul did (1 Samuel 15), Samson also did (Judges 16), and they all paid dearly for it. The officer in the Samarian palace, who despised the word of the Lord through Elisha concerning the end of famine in the land, faced the music—he paid with his life (2 Kings 7). The Bible describes the wrong attitude of despising God’s word as folly and the perpetrator as a fool. Are you wise?

Those who despise God’s word do not read it, listen to it, or meditate on it. Those who read or listen to the word absentmindedly and those who disobey it are all guilty. Similarly, all those who, rather than see it as the cure for all maladies, seek healing and solution from ungodly sources, are equally guilty of despising the word. Some people make or receive phone calls during the sermon; some read newspapers while some allow their minds to wander, and many chat with friends during church services. Some even sleep and pay little or no attention to the word of life. In Luke 5:17, the Bible says that while Jesus was teaching, the power of God was available to heal. Many miss the awesome, life-changing demonstration of the power of God because of these wrong attitudes. The word of God is life to those who find it and health (medicine) to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:22).

The Bereans were wise Christians who did not despise the word of God. They demonstrated discipline in reading it and were willing to follow its truth. Solomon, the wise author of the book of Proverbs, declared the verdict of God for anyone who despises His word, “Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded” (Proverbs 13:13). Do you despise the word of God in your heart, speech, and action? If your answer is in the affirmative, you need an attitude adjustment. The Apostles said to the multitude of the disciples, “It is not right for us to leave the word and serve tables. We will give ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:2,4). That was an attitude adjustment! Ask the Lord for the grace to turn a new leaf and approach His word with reverence. When you do, you will not be destroyed; rather, immeasurable blessings will be yours.
