Open Heavens For Teens 6th March 2025 – You Can Ask for Signs

The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Thursday 6th March 2025 Is “You Can Ask for Signs”

Read: Judges 6:36-40 (KJV)

36 And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,
37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.
38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.
40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

Memorise: Judges 6:39

And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

Gideon lived in a time when the Israelites were oppressed by the Midianites. He was from the weakest clan in the tribe of Manasseh, and he considered himself the least in his family. One day, while threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the Midianites, an angel of the Lord appeared to him and told him that he had been appointed to save the Israelites. When Gideon got the Lord’s message, he was unsure and doubted his ability. He then asked God for a sign to confirm that he was truly chosen.

Like Gideon, I have also asked God for signs on many occasions to confirm some of the instructions He has given me. For example, when He asked me what I wanted for a birthday gift some decades ago, I had to request that He ask the question again as I was surprised He was interested in birthdays, and I needed a confirmation that He was indeed the One speaking. He obliged, and I replied that I wanted a miracle for every member of the congregation. He then told me to gather them together for a Holy Ghost Service. That was the beginning of the many wonderful miracles we have experienced in RCCG’s Holy Ghost Services across the world with millions of people in attendance.

My dear child, when you feel inadequate or uncertain about any of God’s promises, feel free to ask Him for a sign. He sees your potential and can provide confirmation and guidance when you seek His will.

ACTION POINT:
Ask God for the gift of discernment to know when He is speaking to you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Numbers 6:1-7:89, Mark 12:38-13:13

HYMNAL:
Hymn 11 – Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!

1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
