The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 9th October 2025 is “Walk In Him”

READ: Colossians 2:1-10 (NKJV)

  1. For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and [for] as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
  2. that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and [attaining] to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,
  3. in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
  4. Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.
  5. For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your [good] order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
  6. As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
  7. rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
  8. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
  9. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
  10. and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 9TH OCTOBER 2025.

In a very credible sense, one of the clearest things as one goes through the New Testament is the fact that you lose your independence once you become a Christian. As you sign up to follow Christ, be prepared to let go your own ideas and principles, your own interests and pursuits, your own biases and attachments. You must now walk in Him, live in Him and live for Him alone. Anything less is not acceptable. Hear Paul again firmly insisting: “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith” (verses 6-7).

A few implications emerge here as what is required once you receive Christ: (i) Walk in Him: You are no longer allowed to walk/live the way you want; your steps must now be clearly taken in Christ, not according to the expectations of the world system. Your life can no longer be lived to fulfill the expectations of men, not even your own personal expectations, but the expectations of Christ. Are you living according to His expectations? (ii) Rooted and built up in Him: The roots of your private and public choices must now be in Christ; the considerations for your choices must now be Him. (iii) Established in the faith: You must be formed now in the faith, not on the expectations of the world system.

PRAYER: Lord, please, have Your way in me.
