The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Thursday 12th December 2024 Is “What Do You See?”
Read: Numbers 13:26-33
26. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
27. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
28. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
29. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
30. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
Memorise: Exodus 2:2
And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
Many years ago, a pastor enrolled in a business programme and helped some of his pastor friends to enrol in the same programme. Not long after, his pastor friends saw the programme as a hindrance to their ministry and abandoned it. The pastor, on the other hand, saw the programme as an addition to his ministry, and it was. Each of those pastors got what they saw. Several years later, while he was flourishing in the same business as well as his ministry, his pastor friends who abandoned the programme were hit by economic recession. They asked the pastor why he was not affected, and he told them that God used the same programme they abandoned to prepare him like Joseph for the seven years of famine.
Every time you focus on a problem, you will not see or appreciate the solutions, even when they are right before you. When you are faced with challenges, be on the lookout for solutions and not the problem.
REFLECTION:
What do you see, problems or opportunities?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Amos 7:1-9:15 Revelation 3:7-22
HYMN 58: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness seems to veils His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]
3. His oath, His covenant, and blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay. [Refrain]
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne. [Refrain]
