SEEDS OF DESTINY MESSAGE FOR TODAY 16TH DECEMBER 2025

The Scripture makes it abundantly clear that sin attracts sickness. Sin opens the door for the enemy to inflict and afflict people with infirmities. No wonder, Psalm 107:17 says, Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

Psalms 119:67 corroborates this fact: Before I was afflicted, I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. In other words, to go astray is to attract affliction.

Psalms 103:1-3 also gives us further insight into the connection between iniquity and infirmity: Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; That means iniquities are usually accompanied by diseases, and diseases, at times, are caused by iniquities.

No wonder, a man was brought to Jesus in Mark, Chapter Two, and the man was healed by the proclamation of forgiveness by Jesus. The man was carried by four people who could not make their way to where Jesus was. They took him through the roof and dropped him before Jesus. Instead of Jesus saying, “You are healed,” Mark 2:5 tells us something different: When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

Imagine having a sick person brought before you with great efforts and sacrifices, and all you could talk about was forgiveness of sin. Well, Jesus’ response came out of depth of understanding. And that shows us that there is a connection between sin and sicknesses under certain conditions. That is why James 5:14-16 says, Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Sin attracts sickness. Sin does not only have damnable consequences in eternity; it also causes sickness in the body. For example, a person who is a chronic drunkard is inevitably heading towards liver cirrhosis, alcoholic colitis, dementia, and a host of other afflictions. A chronic smoker is on the way to bronchogenic carcinoma, a form of lung cancer. An immoral person is vulnerable to HIV, hepatitis A, B, and C, as well as herpes virus.

Sin has dangerous consequences. For example, what Gehazi stole was money, but what he got was generational leprosy (2Kings 5:26-27). Some people became hypertensive from stealing government money. Some people are busy servicing high blood pressure caused by bribery or looting of public funds.

Beloved, the cure for certain sicknesses lies solely in turning away from sinful activities. Refuse to obey the flesh unto iniquity, because that is a highway to infirmity.

REMEMBER THIS: There is a connection between sin and sickness.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

  1. Turn away from every form of iniquitous lifestyle that can attract sickness in your body.
  2. Ask God for the grace to live for Him in holiness and righteousness.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, forgive me anywhere I have gone astray. Help me to live for you, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY BIBLE READING: Hebrews 9-11

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Receive the grace to live above sin and all its consequences in the Name of Jesus Christ.
