SEEDS OF DESTINY MESSAGE FOR TODAY 7TH JULY 2025
It has been established that every commandment God gives to His people is for their benefit, and not for the benefit of God.
The Scripture says that His commandments are not grievous (1John 5:3). When He said the children of Israel should circumcise their children on the eighth day, someone may ask, “Why not on the sixth, seventh or ninth day? Why must it be on the eighth day?” Now, it was said to have been discovered scientifically some years ago that Prothrombin, a clothing factor, was highest in the blood on the eighth day after birth such that when you do circumcision on the eight day, the tendency of bleeding to death is highly minimized. So, whenever God tells you not to do anything, it is not for His own sake.
Our anchor scripture reveals another commandment from God which says, thou shalt not borrow. It is both a prophecy and a command. And it is for our benefit.
Today, we shall be looking at some of the dangers of borrowing. These are the reasons why borrowing should be avoided.
- The mentality of borrowing is the mentality of scarcity. You must think scarcity before you can think of borrowing. And mentality determines reality (Proverbs 23:7). The mentality of borrowing will produce the reality of scarcity.
- The act of borrowing establishes financial servitude. Proverbs 22:7 says, The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. So, borrowing establishes a person in financial servitude.
- Borrowing is an anti-covenant operation that frustrates the working of the covenant. In the covenant, you are to lend not to borrow, you are to give, not to beg (Deuteronomy 15:6). If you are a tither, a giver, and a Sower, but you are also a beggar and a borrower, it is plus one, minus one; it is counterproductive. The effect of your giving is nullified by your action because borrowing is looking for alternative sources of supplies other than God, your only Supplier.
- Borrowing empties tomorrow into today. When you borrow, you spend the money that you have not yet earned; it destroys the future. What belongs to tomorrow, you spend it today, so when tomorrow arrives, you are empty.
Beloved, do not finish tomorrow before it arrives. Avoid borrowing if you want to reach where God wants you to reach. The only thing you are permitted to owe people is love (Romans 13:8).
Remember this: Borrowing empties tomorrow into today.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
- Avoid the temptation of borrowing.
- Trust in God for supplies; never look up to any man.
- Refuse to eat up everything that enters your hands; save a portion of it.
PRAYER: Lord, I look up to You for my daily bread. I refuse to be a victim of the spell of borrowing. Thank You Lord for steady supernatural supplies and the wisdom to manage it, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
