SEEDS OF DESTINY MESSAGE FOR TODAY 14TH NOVEMBER 2025

Yesterday, we looked at the products of generosity from the life of the Shunamite woman. From our study, it was established that one of the greatest graces to possess in life is the grace of generosity. It was also established that generosity can handle calamity.

In the study, we also saw how the Shunamite woman’s reproach of barrenness was broken by the power of generosity, and how the anointing answered for her future needs (2 Kings 4:16–17; 2 Kings 4:32–35).

My mother was one person from whom I learnt so much growing up. When I went to university, I met a high-ranking senior officer who was exceptionally kind to me — I even stayed in his house occasionally. Afterwards, the man told me a story that when he was a medical student in the early seventies, my mother, who was a market trader, usually gave him some money to help him through school.

According to him, though he had relatives, the support from my mother, who was a stranger, was much more than what his own relatives gave him. I later understood why my mother raised children who became influential and substantial men and women of stature.

Beloved, both your future and the future of your offspring depend on your generosity. What you do today can feed or starve your children tomorrow.

Now, what are the principles of generosity?

  1. Start where you are with what you have (Mark 12:41–42).
Generosity is not about becoming a millionaire first or having a lot of money; it is about beginning with what is already in your hands.

  2. Never have a payback mentality.
This means, never give just because you expect something in return. When Elisha asked the Shunamite woman, “What can I do for you?” she replied, “Nothing” (2 Kings 4:13). In other words, she did not help the prophet in expectation of anything in return. True giving is when you give, especially to those who cannot repay you. The primary motive for giving should be about making a positive impact on someone’s life.

  3. See every avenue to give as an opportunity to rise.
Every need is not a disturbance but an opportunity. When you recognize a necessity in the kingdom, it is not a burden; it is an opportunity for elevation.

    Galatians 6:10

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

What is an opportunity? It is a sudden arrival at fortune — gaining something unexpected. Beloved, every avenue to give is an opportunity to advance. Thank the person who comes with a need; and thank the church for allowing you to be touched by God through your giving. Be eager to find genuine opportunities to bless others.

Remember This:
See every avenue to give as an opportunity to rise.

Assignment(s):

  1. Ask God to give you a generous heart.

  2. Look out for opportunities to be a blessing to God’s kingdom and to someone.

  3. Allow God to lead you in your giving and be prompt in your obedience to Him.

Prayer:
Father, help me to be sensitive so I can recognize the privilege and opportunity to give. I ask for the grace to start from where I am with what I have, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
