In Sir Edmund Hillary’s book, High Adventure, he recounts his amazing story of the first ascent of Mount Everest. He said, “It would be foolish to attempt to climb Mount Everest by yourself. You can’t do it without a small group.” That’s true in every area of life!
You can’t get to any of the peaks of life by yourself. You need a group of people to support you.
I don’t know what you need to climb out of today. Maybe you’re trying to climb out of grief and the loss of a loved one. Many people are trying to climb out of debt and the hole that was created or made worse by a tough economy.
Some are trying to climb out of guilt over a situation where they messed up. Others are trying to climb out of loss, like an unexpected job loss or the loss of a dream. Maybe you need to climb out of your fears or resentment that have kept you from God’s plan for you.
Don’t bring the hurt of yesterday into this day. It’s time to let it go. You’ve got to close the door on it, so you climb out of your struggles, your guilt, your grudges, your insecurities, your worries, and your fears. Even in your grief, you have to be able to move forward.
We all want to climb out of the things that are holding us back from our purpose. We want to discover our potential. We want to reach the peak and experience God’s best for our lives.
You will never reach the heights God created you to reach if you go by yourself. You need that group of people who will stand with you and encourage you. You need friends who will pull you up when you fall—a group that will help you keep moving toward God’s dream for your life.
You can’t do it without a small group.
