House Fellowship Leader’s Manual Lesson No: 51
OPENING PRAYER: Father, please let my journey on earth lead me to the kingdom of Your son Jesus.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leader should remind members different crowns that will be assigned to the victorious after race on earth.
MEMORY VERSE: “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” – Ephesians 5:27 (KJV)
BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 25:31-46 (KJV)
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
LESSON INTRODUCTION:
Heaven can be described as the highest place, the holiest place, a paradise which is the abode of God, a state of bliss, a sacred reality, while Hell or the underworld are the lowest places, the abode of evil or demonic spirits and a state of spiritual impoverishment. For our lives extends beyond the grave, every departed soul ends up in either Heaven or Hell.
LESSON AIM: To let members understand there is a place designed by God to accommodate everyone after their sojourn on earth but each person decides where to go!
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should:
- Know the difference between heaven and hell.
- Understand that getting access to this place requires discipline (heaven) or complacency (hell).
TEXT REVIEW: Matthew 25:31-46
The glorious coming of Jesus is very close.
There will be unique separation of sheep from goats.
On the day of His return, the righteous saints, will laugh last.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL
A. Heaven is generally thought of as a realm in which people experience the bliss of perfect fellowship and harmony with God and with each other; while Hell is in general thought of a realm in which people experience the greatest possible estrangement from God.
B. Heaven is God’s Kingdom where the Lord has prepared mansions for His own; while Hell is a place of everlasting fire prepared for the devil, his cohorts, the wicked and the disobedient- Matthew 25:41.
C. Heaven is reserved for the blessed of the Father to inherit; while Hell is for cursed – Matthew 25:34, 41.
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: HEADING FOR HEAVEN OR HELL?
To ensure you make Heaven and stop any Hell bound journey: –
Put God first, worship no other gods nor practice idolatry- Exodus 20:3-4.
Live a holy life, free of all blemish, wrinkle or spot- Ephesians 5:27.
Do good works and harm not another- Matthew 25: 40, Galatians 6:9-10.
To Be kind and helpful to others particularly the poor or needy and less privileged- Matthew 25:40.
Always seek the face of the Lord for mercy when you fall into sin, confessing and forsaking them – Psalm 51: 1-5.
ASSIGNMENT: Let members assess themselves and correct what may hinder them from gaining access to God’s kingdom.
SUMMARY: And HE (JESUS) Shall set the sheep on His right hand (everlasting Joy), but the goats on the left (eternal damnation). Matthew 25:33
ASSIGNMENT: Check the activity to be done for the end of this quarter and plan ahead.
CONCLUSION: May the Lord help us as we make the right choice and begin to perfect our Heaven bound journey in Jesus name.
