Topic: Knowing the Mind of God
House Fellowship Leader’s Manual Lesson No: 20
OPENING PRAYER: Father, give me grace to know you better and serve you richer in 2026.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members on last week lesson on it is well.
MEMORY VERSE: “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. – Romans 8:27 (KJV)
BIBLE TEXT: Romans 8:26-28 (KJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Knowing the mind of God is having knowledge of his thoughts, desires and will for every human, especially His beloved children who are called believers. What God has designed for us is not to be discovered at once but gradually, as our relationship with Him deepens, more are revealed to us. Jeremiah 29:11 says His thought towards us are good and not evil, to ensure we arrive at the destination of a fulfilling life for us.
The psalmist also mentioned that “great are the works of God and His thoughts are deep” Psalm 92:5, hence we can’t have a full grasp of them because the ways of God are past finding.
LESSON AIM: To help members understand that knowing God is the answer to issues of life.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
- Understand how to access the mind of God.
- Live according to the will of God
TEXT REVIEW: Romans 8: 26-28
- The Holy Spirit helps every believer in all situations of life, including attending to daily problems, making intercession for them.
- The Holy Spirit prays for the believers with feelings that cannot be expressed in words.
- Holy Spirit pleads for believers in harmony with God’s own will.
- All that happens to the believers is working for their good once they fill into His plans.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: HOW TO ACCESS THE MIND OF GOD?
The mind of God and the things God has in store for His children can only be made known or revealed to us by God Himself through the following:
- It begins with having a relationship with Him. John 1:12
- Living a holy and righteous life – Hebrews 1:9
- In the place of fervent prayer – Proverbs 8:17, Jeremiah 29:11-13
- Taking delight in the word of God – Isaiah 58:2
- Communion with the Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 2:9-12
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: LIVE ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD
Living in the will of God is a prerequisite to knowing the mind of God, it is living according to how God want us to live, which is the lifestyle of the kingdom. If we truly claim to be children of God, we have to live according to the principles laid down in His word. How then can we live according to His will?
- Walking in obedience to the word of God – Deuteronomy 28:1-2
- Walking in faith and believing in God – Genesis 18:19; James 2:22-23
- Live a sacrificial life to God – Romans 12:1
- Don’t live according to the standard of the world, but be the standard by a renewed mindset – Romans 12:2
- Guard your salvation jealously – Philippians 2:12-13
- Walking in God’s approval – Acts 13:22
- Living a meek and humble life – Galatians 5:22-23
- Living a life of gratitude and thanksgiving – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
ACTIVITY: How can a believer live according to God’s will?
SUMMARY: All that happens to the believers is working for their good once they fall into His plans.
CONCLUSION: The mind of God is past finding because they are deep. However, through the Holy Spirit, we have access to the deep things of God. – 1 Corinthians 2:10.
PRAYER POINTS
- Father, help all believers to walk in obedience to the word of God.
- Father, give every believer a heart to live a sacrificial life for God.
- Father, never allow your children to follow the standard of the world.
- Father, help us to guide our salvation jealously.
- Father, continue to help Daddy and Mummy GO to walk as God’s approved vessels..

MONDAY: Knowing the mind of God comes in sharing in His plans and purpose.
TUESDAY: God is ready to share His mind with us. Genesis 18
WEDNESDAY: When you are His, definitely you will not be shrouded in darkness. Daniel 11:32
THURSDAY: God surrounds and protects His children as mountains do to Jerusalem. Psalm 125:2
FRIDAY: One of the benefits of knowing God’s mind is peace.
SATURDAY: Rod of the wicked will not rest upon the lot of the righteous is another benefit of knowing Him
SUNDAY: There is a reward for those who live for God.
