[8]But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
One major reason people submit to telling lies is the fear of being punished. It was this fear that made Adam and Eve lie to God as soon as they heard Him call. One thing we have to remember is that fear is not from God, it’s from the devil.
So, each time you lie, you are confessing that you are a child of the devil. Some other people lie to show they are clever or smart, like Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. A lie is anything other than the absolute truth. Flattery, falsehood, truth mixed with lies and hypocritical statements are all nothing but lies.
You should know that telling lies is a problem because all you will feel is guilt: you will not have a clear conscience. For example, collecting more money than you are asked to pay in school from your parents is a lie. My beloved child, lying will only delay your punishment. In order to escape God’s punishment, do away with all lies.
