The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Tuesday 4 Th April 2023 Is “The Lord Is My Shepherd”
Read: Psalms 23
1 (A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Memorise: Psalm 23:1
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 12-13
Psalm 23 is called the shepherd’s song, and it is one of the common psalms in the Bible. Many people have memorized this psalm without knowing its full meaning. As a child of God, the Lord Almighty is our Shepherd. A shepherd is someone who cares for the sheep. He determines the fate of a sheep. The Lord Almighty determines whether you live or die.
The Bible says, “The Lord is my Shepherd”, not “The Lord is our Shepherd”, which makes it a personal matter. This is because declaring that He is your Shepherd shows you are sure of your relationship with Him, and you can only be sure of this declaration if you have surrendered your life to Jesus. As your Shepherd, He will lead and guide you in every decision you make. You also have nothing to fear if Jesus is your Shepherd. Beloved, if you deal with God on a personal basis, you will get better results in life, and you will lack nothing on earth.
REFLECTION:
Is the Shepherd your Shepherd?
HYMN 18 – When We Walk With The Lord
When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey
But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows
And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
