The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Thursday 26th January 2023 Is “Bridle Your Tongue”
Read: 2 KINGS 2:23-24
[23]And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
[24]And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
Memorise: Matthew 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Words are very powerful; they can either mould or mar someone’s destiny. As a child of God, you cannot afford to be reckless with your words because there is power in your tongue.
One of the things I don’t encourage in the church is jesting or comedy. You cannot use abusive words or make jest of people and call them jokes! If you are into comedy as a form of entertainment, you really should be careful and know your boundaries.
Many comedians make fun off anointed Ministers of God and constituted authorities; some even change the names of God with profane words to excite their audiences. This is unacceptable.
In today’s Bible text, forty-two children lost their lives for laughing at the outward appearance of a genuine man of God. There are consequences for every wrong word you speak, so it is better to be quiet than to say the wrong things

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 26 JANUARY 2023 HYMN
I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS
1. I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak,
2. I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there.
3. I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.
4. I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.”
5. I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call.
6. But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee.
