The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Sunday 18th August 2024 Is “Gratitude”
Read: Colossians 2:6-7
6. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Memorise: 1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Gratitude is a powerful emotion that transforms one’s heart and brings one closer to God. In the Bible, we are repeatedly reminded to give thanks to the Lord for all that He has done for us and to trust in His goodness and mercy.
Apostle Paul, in today’s memory verse, reminds us that gratitude is not a temporary feeling; rather, it is a deliberate choice that we make. Gratitude shows that a fellow trusts in God’s plans for his or her life, even in trying times. You can choose to be grateful because you know that God is always with you, working all things together for your good. In today’s Bible reading, we see that gratitude flows from a deep connection with Christ, being rooted in His love and strength. When we are filled with thanksgiving, it is a sign that we have an intimate relationship with our Lord, and His grace is at work in us.
My dear child, strive to be rooted in your relationship with Christ so that your life can be filled with gratitude to God always. Is your gratitude dependent on circumstances?
