The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Friday 20th December 2024 Is “Look Up”
Read: Psalm 121:1-8
1. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Memorise: Psalm 121:1
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Many years ago, while rounding off my doctorate program, I needed 50 naira to collect bound copies of my Ph.D. dissertation from the university press. I had no money except the 50 naira that I had deposited with my Head of Department (HOD) from my research grant. I went to collect it, but the HOD refused to give it to me, even though the next day was the submission deadline for my dissertation. On getting home, I told my wife about my ordeal, and we prayed to God for help. Later in the day, someone knocked on our door, and when he came in, he said he had come to repay some money that he owed me long before then – it was exactly 50 naira! I was expecting help from my HOD, but God sent help to me from elsewhere.
Beloved, if you are in desperate need of God’s intervention, just look up to Him, and help will locate you
KEY POINT: Who do you look up to when you are at a crossroads?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Haggai 1:1-2:23; Revelation 11:1-19
HYMN 58: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness seems to veils His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]
3. His oath, His covenant, and blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay. [Refrain]
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne. [Refrain]
