The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Saturday 8th February 2025 Is “Help From Above”
Read: 1 Kings 17:8-16
8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
Memorise: Psalm 121:2
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
Divine help refers to God’s intervention in a fellow’s life that enables the fellow to get what he or she needs to achieve what he or she needs to achieve. God is always on time; He is never late (Psalm 46:1). At any moment you need help, He will be there to help you (Psalm 124:1-7).
Many years ago, during our annual convention in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, my wife came to me and said, “Darling, we need N5,000 to feed the people today.” It was a lot of money in those days, and even though I had no money with me, I told her, “Go. I will call you to give you the money later.” As she left, I turned to the Helper of the helpless, praying for a way to feed everyone present at the convention. Not long after, a man, who had been driving past the Redemption Camp (now Redemption City), decided to stop by. He asked to know what was going on, and I told him we were having a convention, to which he replied, “That is a very wonderful idea. Next year, I will be part of it.” He then put his hand in his pocket and said, “But for now, have this.” He gave me an envelope and left. When I opened the envelope, I found N1,000 in it. I turned to God and said, “Thank you Lord; we have N1,000 now and N4,000 to go.” Miraculously, God provided the remaining money. In the end, God sent help to me. Your help will come today, in Jesus’ name!

PRAYER POINT
Father, please send help to me and family today.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Exodus 28:1-43, Matthew 25:13
HYMN 27: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
3 Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge–
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.
