The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Monday 8th December 2025 Is “Moses Prayed”
Read: Exodus 32:9–14 (KJV)
Memorise: Deuteronomy 9:26 (KJV)
“I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.”
Moses is described in Scripture as the meekest man on earth in his generation (Numbers 12:3). God chose him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, and throughout this journey, his patience was constantly tested.
Whenever the Israelites faced challenges—whether hunger, thirst, or danger—they complained bitterly and often blamed Moses for bringing them out of Egypt.
Despite their stubbornness and frequent accusations, Moses consistently prayed for them. In today’s reading, their murmuring became so severe that God decided to destroy them, but Moses stood in the gap.
Instead of rejoicing that his tormentors would finally be punished, he pleaded passionately for God’s mercy on them.
This is a powerful lesson in godly character. Most people naturally feel vindicated when their opposers face consequences, but Moses showed a heart filled with compassion and humility. He demonstrated what it truly means to love others—even when they mistreat you.
My dear child, when people hurt, slander, or antagonise you, don’t pray for their downfall. Instead, imitate Moses and Jesus. Remember that Jesus prayed for the soldiers crucifying Him, saying, “Father, forgive them.”
God expects you to show mercy, compassion, and maturity by praying for those who wrong you.
KEY POINT:
When people hurt you, ask God to forgive them.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Hosea 10:1–14:9; Jude 1:1–25
HYMNAL:
Hymn 16 – Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
