TEENS OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL 7TH NOVEMBER 2025

Depression is a deep feeling of discouragement and sadness that often comes with a loss of interest in life. It can make even the most vibrant person feel hopeless and empty.

I have experienced depression before—particularly after I lost my son. It was one of the most painful moments of my life. But one day, while I was praying, a daughter of mine abroad sent me a text message that read, “Daddy, let God carry you.” Those simple words reminded me that I was never alone. Gradually, I realised that depression is one of the devil’s strategies to weaken believers and make them lose focus on God’s promises.

This was exactly what happened to Prophet Elijah. After Jezebel threatened to kill him, fear and discouragement took over, and he asked God to take his life. But instead of letting him die, God sent an angel to strengthen him with food and rest.

Depression is a form of demonic oppression, and if not addressed quickly, it can lead to dangerous thoughts—even suicide. Remember, suicide is a sin because it is self-murder, and God has commanded that no one should kill (Exodus 20:13).

Beloved, if you are feeling overwhelmed today—maybe by loss, failure, rejection, or uncertainty—know that God’s arms are wide open to carry you through. He still loves you and has great plans for your future. Refuse to give in to depression; instead, pray, sing praises, study God’s word, and surround yourself with people of faith. You will live and not die, and your joy will return, in Jesus’ name!

PRAYER POINT:

Heavenly Father, please carry me in Your everlasting arms and fill my heart with Your peace.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Ezekiel 16:42–17:24; Hebrews 8:1–13

HYMNAL:

Hymn 6 – When upon life’s billow you are tempest tossed
