Many pastors, in a bid to appreciate some departments in church, may say things like, “We celebrate the music ministry for their outstanding performance today. They made the service glorious, and the Spirit of the Lord came down.”
However, such statements can be misleading. It may not have been the music ministry that brought down the power of God. Perhaps it was the sanitation department whose cleanliness created a conducive atmosphere, or the prayer department interceding fervently, or even the ushering and protocol team whose holy lifestyle and spiritual authority prevented demonic distractions.
The truth is that every department in a local church is important to God. Some serve in the background, but their impact is undeniable. And every worker, no matter the role, will receive a reward from God.
Think of the human body: someone may want to dress beautifully for service, but if their kidneys are failing, they may not even be able to stand, walk, or get dressed. Likewise, the body of Christ needs every part functioning well. Comparing one ministry or department to another is pointless and unwise.
Beloved, focus on your calling and serve faithfully until you see Jesus in glory. Do not waste time comparing yourself with others.
