Open Heavens For Teens 5th March 2025 – Dress Decently

The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Wednesday 5th March 2025 Is “Dress Decently”

Read: 1 Peter 3:1-5 (KJV)

1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Memorise: 1 Timothy 2:9

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array:

A popular saying goes thus: ‘Dress the way you want to be addressed.’ This is because how you dress will determine how people will relate with you. In the olden days, a mad person could be easily recognised by his rough and unkempt look, but today, some people who are mentally stable wear torn clothes in the name of fashion. Some even cut their jean trousers by themselves and call them ‘crazy jeans’. It is indeed worrisome that young people have made mad people their new role models.

Sometime ago, I saw a girl dressed indecently and asked if her parents were not at home when she left the house. She replied that they were at home and, in fact, added that it was her mother who bought the dress for her. I then said, “How can you walk through the streets like this? Don’t you know that your dress says that you are available and cheap?” Surprisingly, she thanked me and said that she had always suspected that her parents didn’t really care about her.

My dear child, if someone gifts you ‘crazy jeans’ or clothes that expose parts of the body that should be hidden, politely decline them. If you glorify God in your dressing, He will glorify Himself in other aspects of your life.

KEY POINT:
If you dress decently, you bring glory to God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Numbers 4:1-5:31, Mark 12:18-37

HYMNAL:
Hymn 10 – Christian, seek not yet repose

1 ‘Christian! seek not yet repose,’
hear thy guardian angel say;
thou art in the midst of foes;
‘watch and pray.’

2 Principalities and powers,
mustering their unseen array,
wait for thy unguarded hours;
‘watch and pray.’

3 Gird thy heavenly armour on,
wear it ever night and day;
ambushed lies the evil one;
‘watch and pray.’

4 Hear the victors who o’ercame;
still they mark each warrior’s way;
all with one sweet voice exclaim,
‘watch and pray.’

5 Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
him thou lovest to obey;
hide within thy heart his word,
‘watch and pray.’

6 Watch, as if on that alone
hung the issue of the day;
pray, that help may be sent down;
‘watch and pray.’
