The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Wednesday 5th February 2026 Is “Cheerfulness or Obligation?”
Read: 1 Chronicles 29:1–9 (KJV)

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
God desires that our giving should be an act of joy, not a burdensome duty. True generosity flows from a willing and cheerful heart, not from pressure or compulsion. In today’s Bible reading, we see how the Israelites gave willingly toward the construction of God’s temple. They gave with loyal hearts, rejoicing as they offered their resources to the Lord.
Cheerful giving is not measured by the size or value of what is given, but by the attitude and joy behind it. Jesus emphasised this truth when He commended the widow who gave two mites—small copper coins of little monetary value.
Though her offering seemed insignificant, it was precious in God’s sight because she gave wholeheartedly (Luke 21:2–3). This teaches us that God values the heart behind the gift more than the gift itself.
To develop a heart of cheerful giving, you must understand that giving is a privilege, not an obligation. When you see it this way, you will naturally look for opportunities to bless others—whether through your time, resources, talents, or acts of kindness. When you give joyfully and trust God’s purpose, your giving becomes a channel of blessing both to you and to the person receiving it.

Identify someone in your school or church who needs a particular item within your reach and provide it joyfully.
