Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.
When a person is addicted to something, it means that thing has taken control of the person’s life. Addiction is a condition where someone finds it extremely difficult to resist or stop a behaviour, even when it is harmful. In simple terms, addiction shows a lack of self-control in a particular area.
Many young people today struggle with different forms of addiction—such as excessive eating, sleeping too much, shopping, video games, social media, hard drugs, gambling, and other habits. These addictions often drain people spiritually, mentally, financially, and even academically.
My dear child, whatever you do not control will eventually control you. That is why addiction is dangerous—it slowly takes over a person’s life.
If you are struggling with any form of addiction, the first step is to identify and acknowledge it. Then, seek help from godly counsellors or trusted spiritual leaders—do not suffer in silence.
Most importantly, ask the Holy Spirit for help. He is always willing to assist anyone who sincerely desires freedom and is ready to obey His instructions. As you submit yourself to God, He will give you the strength to break free. I pray that if you are under the chains of any addiction, the Almighty God will set you free, in Jesus’ name.
