Open Heavens For Teens 3rd January 2026 – Power or Authority

Power is the ability to get something done, while authority is the right to get something done. You may ask, “Which is more important?” The truth is that both are important and serve different purposes.

For instance, if your phone or laptop needs a new software installation and you do not have the technical ability (power) to install it, you can take it to a software engineer who has the skill.

However, even with the skill, the engineer cannot access your device unless you provide the correct password. That password represents authority—the right to act.

This illustration explains why it is unwise to settle for power alone or authority alone. It is possible—and necessary—to possess both. A student may have the ability (power) to do well academically, but must also exercise God-given authority to speak against failure, confusion, and distraction.

Likewise, someone may have the power to enjoy good health, but must also use spiritual authority to cancel sickness and infirmity.

My dear child, never be satisfied with having only power or only authority. Desire both. As you hunger for the power of the Holy Spirit and learn to exercise the authority God has given you, you will experience victory in every area of your life. I pray that as you thirst for power and authority, the Almighty God will grant your request, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please equip me with the power of the Holy Spirit and teach me how to exercise the authority You have given me, in Jesus’ name.
