The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Sunday 2nd November 2025 Is “The Early Church Prayed”
Read: Acts 12:1–5 (KJV)
Memorise: “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” — Acts 12:5 (KJV)
One sad trend in today’s generation is how people respond to bad or tragic events. Instead of helping, many are quick to bring out their phones to record or post such incidents online for attention. Imagine a person drowning, and instead of rescuing them, others are busy filming! Or think of cases where people are attacked or in danger, yet bystanders only record videos rather than intervene or pray.
This attitude breaks God’s heart. As children of God, we are called to be spiritually sensitive and compassionate, not spectators to suffering. Whenever we see or hear of evil, our first response should be prayer, not gossip, mockery, or entertainment.
In today’s Bible passage, we see that when Herod imprisoned Peter, the early church didn’t just complain or post about it — they prayed fervently. Their united prayers moved God to send an angel who miraculously freed Peter from prison. That’s the power of intercession!
My dear child, when you hear of someone in trouble — maybe a sick friend, a classmate being bullied, or even tragic news in the community — don’t just talk about it. Pray. Your prayers can change situations, bring comfort, and release God’s power to work miracles.
QUIZ:
Why did the early church pray for Peter when Herod put him in prison?
KEY POINT:
Don’t just comment or gossip about bad incidents — pray for those involved because that’s what God expects of you.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Ezekiel 3:16–6:14; Hebrews 4:1–16
HYMNAL:
Hymn 11 – Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
