The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Wednesday 29th January 2025 Is “Not So Little”
Read: 1 Samuel 17:42-46
42. And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43. And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44. And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
Memorise: 1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.,
A good lesson to learn from today’s Bible reading is that God can use anything and anyone. David was the last child of his parents, and when Samuel visited Jesse’s home to anoint one of his sons as the next king of Israel, David wasn’t called upon until Samuel demanded to see him. Eventually, David became the king.
Likewise, when David faced Goliath to defend the name of the Lord, the giant laughed him to scorn because of his size; he was ignorant of the giant-sized God who was backing David. Eventually, Goliath was killed with just a sling and a stone.
My dear child, don’t see your age or size as a limitation to what you can achieve in life. Never look down on yourself because God can use anyone for His will, and He can equip you to surmount any challenge. Someone once said, don’t tell your God how big your problem is; rather, tell your problem how big your God is, and then you will have victory. Don’t let anyone belittle you, and don’t allow any situation to get you depressed. Confront your challenges with the word of God because greater is He that is in you than whatever challenges you might face in the world.
