The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Friday 19th December 2025 Is “Learn from Samson”
Read: Judges 16:23–30 (KJV)
Memorise: Judges 16:28 (KJV)
“And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.”
Samson was a man of extraordinary strength, and his strength was connected to his obedience to God, symbolised by his hair. Even before his birth, an angel of the Lord gave his parents clear instructions that were meant to guide his entire life. Samson was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites from their enemies, the Philistines.
Throughout his life, Samson performed remarkable feats: he killed a lion with his bare hands, uprooted the gates of a fortified city, and destroyed thousands of Philistines using the jawbone of a donkey.
Despite these exploits, Samson had a serious weakness—he allowed his emotions and lust to control him. He repeatedly formed relationships with women from enemy territories, and this eventually led to his downfall.
After being betrayed, captured, and humiliated by the Philistines, Samson remembered to call upon the Lord. In God’s infinite mercy, his strength was restored, enabling him to defeat his enemies one last time. Sadly, he died alongside them and did not fully accomplish the purpose God had designed for his life.
My dear child, do not allow your emotions, desires, or weaknesses to dominate your decisions. Instead, seek God’s guidance in every step you take. Samson allowed lust to replace God’s authority in his life, and he paid dearly for it. I pray for you today that your destiny will not be cut short, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please uproot anything that will hinder me from fulfilling my purpose, in Jesus’ name.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Zephaniah 1:1–3:20; Revelation 10:1–11
HYMNAL:
Hymn 10 – Christian, seek not yet repose
