Today’s memory verse shows that skill, intelligence, or preparation alone does not guarantee success. There is always a God-factor that determines the final outcome of every race in life.
Years ago, when I served as a sports master in a girls’ secondary school, my team had one of the fastest runners I had ever seen—swift like a cheetah. During a major inter-school competition, she led the 100-metre race with ease.
But just as she approached the finish line, something unexpected happened: she fell and began to crawl.
Before she could get up, the girls behind her overtook her, and she finished third instead of first.
That incident taught me a lifelong lesson: never place your total confidence in your abilities alone, because being the fastest does not always guarantee winning.
This is not an excuse to be lazy or unserious. You must still work hard, stay diligent, and prepare thoroughly. However, you must also recognise that:
Life is not a competition against others,
The fact that someone is ahead today does not mean you will not succeed tomorrow,
And God is the One who ultimately grants success.
Focus on your dreams, remain diligent, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions daily. With God on your side, you will surely succeed.
